Development of Custom Illustrated Cover Art for Dark Mythical Fantasy (And Happy New Year!)

While many were travelling to see family, (a gathering over forty for mine!), I was bunkered down with my dog at home for the recent holidays. By choice, don't worry! It is expensive to travel inter-state, especially when you factor in doggie hotels.

My sister had to rope in a team of five to bounce her dog around over the extended break and, while this was something open for Asha too, it wasn't something I particularly wanted to organise. (Yes, the separation anxiety is totally on my end, I have no shame in admitting).

Fortunately, I have amazing friends who made sure to drop by, including for a Friend-mas bakey Christmas night!

This time also gave me heaps of opportunities to just chill out, watch Christmas movies (mostly horror and action of course), and draw.

This included many studies for High Fantasy UK Author, Wadzanai Mufunde, upcoming novel Champion of Death. (What a name!).

Many of these you would have seen on my Instagram account.

(And for those following along, sorry for the sudden hiatus! I lost my old phone I was using purely for apps...and now locked out of my account. Again. Fingers crossed I can easily resolve it!! Tears will be shed if not. So much yikes).

If you know how it works, these concepts are rough. But always fun and I love seeing the before and after of my creative process.

Also, I'm getting to draw silly things like sexy death!

Quick sketch of a sexy death
ha. Nip slip.

I have SO MUCH excitement for this project.

The next stage will commence within the next fortnight.

More to come on this custom illustrated cover art work.

(Also, happy 2025 you rascals!!).

ABOUT WADZANAI MUFUNDE

Wadzanai was born in Zimbabwe and moved to the UK at age five with her parents and younger sister--who is still convinced her parents found Wadzanai in a bush somewhere. Wadzanai was often told to get her head out of the clouds as a kid. As an adult, she's decided to make it her job and vastly enjoys being the God of her own fictional worlds and creating much suffering. She hopes to leave a mark on the world and be remembered as kind, loving, and hopefully, a damn good writer.
