Stuff I Designed and Illustrated in 2024 (It's a Wrap!)

Okay, so I thought it might be good to do a little reflection on all the work I completed last year. Though, strangely, it still feels like 2024? Or like an odd transitional purgatory zone? Just me?

Anyway! From book covers and logo design, to social media promotional graphics and product labels; from international right sales and best-selling authors, to small indie press and local businesses! Oh my! (Breathe!).

Here are most of the things I designed and illustrated in a little 2024 Wrap.

~ JANUARY ~

Custom illustration and lettering / typography for brand emblem logo design for Wax and Mane, a small QLD business. Artwork by Creative Dayna AU

So, this small Queensland beard care range is not yet officially launched. But I can show you some of the work I did for them last year. First up, this cute-as emblem logo with bespoke typography / lettering and illustration! It's giving mythical. It's giving sensitive masculinity.

Illustrated Book Cover for Fantasy Steamy Romance Indie Author Sarah Marie Page, Art by Creative Dayna AU, Mock Up of Book Cover in a Promotional Graphic for Social Media Share
Original Illustrated Book Cover Design for Illusion of Stars by Sarah Marie Page

It's just the way of life that not all projects make it to the public. In this case, the lovely author Sarah Marie Page, unfortunately, found herself caught. She was absolutely thrilled with her custom cover for her debut Illusion of Stars when we wrapped. However, in the time subsequent, she realised it didn't capture the true vibe of her story as she originally intended. That her true vision had been lost amongst the swell of creative opinions from all those surrounding her, from friends and family to fans. A very easy trap to fall for!

She thanked for me for my hard work but ended up deciding to start fresh with another artist now that she had a clearer idea in mind of what she envisioned. Which is okay! It happens.

I must admit, though, this cover is still pretty epic. It also had some really cool concept and process art that you've probably seen about my socials too:

And if Sarah's name seems familiar, it may be because she has featured on this blog before! A few years ago, she was one of my premade customers with her novella, Rapacity.

~ APRIL ~

Illustrated Book Cover for Noir Fantasy Beasts of London by Jonathan Maloney, Published by SkyNation Publishing; Art by Creative Dayna AU, Mock Up of Book Cover in a Promotional Graphic for Social Media Share

Okay, now we're jumping ahead a little to the release of this champion. If you've been following me at all for the past few months, you are most likely very aware of my work on SkyNation Publishing's Beasts of London. Obviously, I am very proud of this project. In small part because, due to the little setback of Illusion of Stars, this was my first official illustrated publication with print wraps. It was a big moment for me! And just look at it! It's so good!

~ MAY ~

Okay, technically, I didn't design this cover in 2024. But Siren Books Editorial did purchase the international territory rights for Emperor of Evening Stars by Laura Thalassa, the Bargainer Series novella, at this point. Which kind of counts? And is still very cool.

So above is Siren Book's latest insta post about the upcoming paperback featuring my original cover art designs...(From over a decade? Sssh!).

~ JUNE ~

Branding Art and Design Concept Work for Pitching Documents of High End Queensland Supplement Brand, Creative Design by Creative Dayna AU

Talking about projects that will never hit the public markets! Here are some concept branding work I did for a Queensland ayurvedic supplement brand and their original working title, AVEYA.

This artwork was used in their early pitching and funding rounds which helped them secure some major associates and coaches. They have now rebranded to Ceylai.

~ JULY ~

Custom Illustrated and Designed Book Cover Artwork by Creative Dayna AU for Sapphic Scifi Author Anastasia Lynette

Okay, I have so much love for Miss Lynette and this project. I had such a blast with it. So few authors have the balls to just let me loose. I can't even promise I'll strike gold because the creative process is so subjective and open to influence from both my internal state as much as any outside pressures. But I reckon we did real good with this one.

Sadly, the release seems to be on hold, but fingers crossed for this year yeah?

~ AUGUST ~

Illustrated Book Cover for steamy / spicy gothic paranormal debut Red Masquerade by Indie Author Shaye Madison; Art by Creative Dayna AU, Mock Up of Book Cover in a Promotional Graphic for Social Media Share

Alright, another jump as we race towards the end. This is another absolute stunning artwork that I created and flooded my socials, (totally rightly so), with. I of course mean the cover art for Shaye Madison's debut gothic paranormal, Red Masquerade, and my third official major illustrated book cover! Feast on it.

~ SEPTEMBER ~

Promotional Graphic featuring Book Cover Mock Up of His Throne of Embers book release, artwork and design by Creative Dayna AU; commissioned by Australian fantasy author Renee April and SkyNation Publishing

So, this is another book cover design I technically did years ago BUT it's only now officially getting released! And I did create this little quick promotional graphic banner last year...which counts, yeah?

~ OCTOBER ~

Early print proofs of product promotional labels for Queensland small business Wax and Mane, design and art by Creative Dayna AU

And we're back to design work for Wax & Mane! I can't show you the final lock product labels we created. But I can show you this sneak peak with the older workings and print proofs...

~ 2025 ~

So, that's the little 2024 wrap of things I designed and illustrated last year. What's happening now? Well, I can tell you the following:

  • Illustrated Book Cover for Champion of Death by Wadzanai Mufunde is in development

  • Illustrated book cover for the Beasts of London sequel starts next month!

  • Artwork for an LA Coffee Book should commence in the first quarter

  • Illustrated book cover for the Red Masquerade sequel will be happening mid-year

Keep an eye here for more of what's happening. And maybe some real cool stuff next month!

I still have availability, particularly from March/April, so if you're looking for a little art and design for your upcoming creative project, make sure to hit me up and say hi! :D
